A few words of advice before you buy your ticket
Tickets can be purchased online between a maximum of 20 days (GMT) and a minimum of 1 day (GMT) prior to the date of the visit, subject to availability. Payment may be made only by debit/credit card (VISA, MASTERCARD) and the euro is the only currency accepted. Credit card details are transmitted securely via the Banca Sella SpA payment circuit. We charge only on the day of the visit if you don’t cancel before. You will receive a confirmation email with the e-ticket attached. If you will not please check your Junk e-mail folder. Customers who have AT&T account do not receive our e-mails, please use a secondary address.
The Opera della Primaziale Pisana is responsible solely for the price of the tickets purchased from its official site, from authorised accommodation facilities, agencies and guides, or from ticket offices on site. In the event that the admission ticket has been purchased by an entity other than those indicated above or if the admission ticket has been lost, stolen, duplicated or altered, the bearer of the admission ticket may not be authorised by the organiser to enter the chosen place or may be obliged to leave it. In order to make the purchase, it is necessary to be at least 18 years of age. Each ticket gives the right to visit the buildings and museums only on the day and at the time specified.
Change and cancellation Policy
The order can be entirely cancelled or modified in the time of the visit to the Tower, until the day (24.00 GMT) prior to the date of the visit.
For the Cathedral
Admission to the Cathedral is with free pass. If you buy any ticket you get a free pass to visit the Cathedral, not subjected to a fixed time. The fixed time free passes for visiting just the Cathedral are limited in number and available exclusively from the ticket offices on site.
The Cathedral is a place of worship and prayer. Visitors are asked to dress and behave appropriately, respecting both the place and people. Explanations to groups of 6 or more visitors can be made only with radioguides, out of respect for the silence required by the sacred place. During masses and special ceremonies: visitors have access to a limited area, cameras can not be used, guides and escorts can not give explanations.
For the Tower
Reduced-price tickets are not available. Admission is free only for disabled visitors with their helper, upon presentation of suitable certification to the cashier. For safety reasons, children who will not have turned 8 by the end of this year are not permitted to enter. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. ID may be requested to certify the age. Please check the time of your visit. If you are late you will not be allowed in and you will not be refunded. Hand bags/bags/luggage must be left at the cloakroom before the visit and picked up at the end of the visit.
The visit takes about 30 minutes. The climb is on foot and there are 251 steps.
The staff will welcome the visitors with a brief description of the history of the Tower.
The visit is not recommended for people with cardiovascular and muscular disorders.
The floor is uneven and slippery.
For the Baptistery, Camposanto, Sinopie Museum, Opera del Duomo Museum, Temporary exhibition
Free admission without ticket only for disabled visitors with their helper and for visitors under the age of 11 if accompanied by an adult. Valid ID or proof of entitlement required.
Reduced-price tickets are available only for school groups of a minimum of 10 students if accompanied by an adult, upon presentation of a list of attendees on headed notepaper from the school. Please contact the cashier for details. Tickets for school groups can also be purchased online through the Area reserved for Agencies and Schools
Audioguide for visits to the Opera del Duomo Museum. Collect it at the entrance of the museum. You will need to show your ticket and your ID/Passport. A user-friendly, innovative device for your visit to the Opera del Duomo Museum. You can customise the itinerary. The service is available only during opening hours of the museum. 90 minutes of audio, 55 listening points, 5 languages available (Italian, English, French, German, Spanish). 26 rooms to discover sculptures, sacred vestments, inlays, liturgical furnishings and other authentic works from the Piazza del Duomo.
For your safety
The Opera della Primaziale Pisana is strictly applying the security measures decided by the Italian authorities to ensure the safety of our visitors.
For those who are visiting the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Camposanto: Large luggages and suitcases are not allowed. Only small bags or backpacks will be accepted, with a max size of 20x30x38 cm and no weight restriction.
For those who are visiting the Tower: Visitors are subject to the screening of a hand-held metal detector. The device will not affect the operation of pacemakers and defibrillators.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience and delay which may be caused by the extra security checks at the entrance.
Open every day
Entrance is allowed up to 30 minutes before closing time. The Cathedral is open to visitors only from 10am.
Tickets for the Tower are at set times and limited in number, so you must choose a time when you buy your ticket.
We regret that it may be necessary, in the interests of security or public safety or other specific circumstances, for us to alter the opening hours or close specific areas at any time, and without prior notice.
SPECIAL OPENING AND CLOSING
Opera del Duomo Museum opening on 18 October, 2019.
Camposanto Special opening by night from June 17th to August 31st until 10pm. If you buy the ticket for visiting the Tower from 19.30 you get a free pass to visit the Camposanto, not subjected to a fixed time.
The entrance is free on the days November 1st and 2nd, on the occasion of All Soul’s and Saints’s days.
Tower Special opening by night until 10pm from June 17th to August 31st. Early closing on June 16th.
