Before accessing this site, please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully as they govern your use of this site. By accessing, viewing, browsing or using the materials or services available on or through this site, you, the user, indicate that you understand and intend these Terms and Conditions to be the legal equivalent of a signed, written document and equally binding, and that you accept such Terms and Conditions and agree to be legally bound by them.

You, the user, undertake to use the website and all its content and services in accordance with the law, moral standards and order and with these Terms and Conditions. You also undertake to make proper use of the services and/or content of the website and not to use them for illegal or criminal purposes, in violation of the rights of others and/or in violation of regulations concerning intellectual property or of any other applicable laws.

PURCHASE CONDITIONS

The admission ticket is valid if purchased through one of the sales channels indicated on the official website, www.opapisa.it, or from an entity authorised by the Opera della Primaziale Pisana to sell admission tickets. In the event that the admission ticket has been purchased by the client from an entity other than those indicated above or if the admission ticket has been lost, stolen, duplicated or obtained in breach of these terms and conditions, the bearer of the admission ticket may not be authorised by the organiser to enter the chosen place or may be obliged to leave it. The admission ticket may not be sold by the bearer to third parties, nor may it be subject to intermediation costs.

The Opera della Primaziale Pisana is responsible solely for the price of the tickets purchased from its official site, from authorised accommodation facilities, agencies and guides, or from ticket offices on site. The electronic ticket service allows visitors to purchase admission tickets at the Tower and at other buildings, monuments and museums in Piazza del Duomo in Pisa. In order to make the purchase, it is necessary to be at least 18 years of age.

Calendary Tickets can be purchased online between a maximum of 20 days and a minimum of 1 day prior to the date of the visit, subject to availability. Each ticket gives the right to visit the buildings and museums only on the day and at the time specified.

Data In order to make an online purchase, you will need: an identity document, a credit card, the name of a visitor or group leader, and an e-mail address. The data submitted must be that of a person taking part in the visit. At the end of the operation, the following will be sent to the e-mail address indicated: confirmation of purchase, a ticket for each selection made, the order code (this needs to be memorised) and full information about the visit.

METHOD OF PAYMENT

Payment may be made only by debit/credit card (VISA, MASTERCARD) and the euro is the only currency accepted. Credit card details are transmitted securely via the Banca Sella SpA payment circuit. The card is debited when the booking is confirmed.

Policy of Modification and Cancellation The order can be entirely cancelled or modified in the time of the visit to the leaning tower, until the day (00.00 GMT+1) prior to the date of the visit.

PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA

In accordance with Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 of the Personal Data Protection Code, the Opera della Primaziale Pisana guarantees that the processing of personal data is carried out to high standards of security and with respect for human rights, fundamental freedoms and the dignity of individuals, particularly as regards privacy and personal identity, and that data received will be used exclusively for communications concerning the purchase of the ticket, with full protection of the rights and privacy of those concerned, excluding transferral to third parties. Verification in real time of credit-card and transaction data is handled directly by Banca Sella SpA, which will process them in accordance with strict standards of security and confidentiality.

GUARANTEED VISIT

The Opera della Primaziale Pisana reserves the right to vary the day or time, or to cancel bookings, at any time, for reasons of force majeure and/or security, promptly informing those concerned. Should the Opera della Primaziale Pisana not be able to provide the visit as guaranteed, it undertakes to refund in full all amounts paid or, upon request, to postpone the visit.

LOST TICKETS

Should the ticket be lost, a copy may be requested at the ticket offices on site, only if the ticket has been purchased online, upon presentation of the identity document registered at the time of purchase.

 

MEANS OF ACCESS AND ADMISSION RULES

 

VISITING THE LEANING TOWER

Quantity The visit is absolutely not recommended for people with cardiovascular and muscular disorders. The ascent is on foot and there are 297 steps. For safety reasons, children under the age of 8 are not permitted to enter. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Time Online tickets are limited in number. If the time chosen is not available, you can try later or buying at the ticket offices on site. The time can be modified once purchase has been effected. Check the time of your visit. If you are late you won’t be allowed in and you won’t be refunded.

Any purse/bag/luggage must be left at the cloakroom before the visit and picked up at the end of the visit.
The visit takes about 35 minutes. The ascent is on foot and there are 251 steps.
The staff welcome the visitors with a brief description of the history of the tower.

VISITING THE CATHEDRAL

Admission to the Cathedral is free. If you buy any ticket you have included a free pass to visit the Cathedral, upon presentation of the ticket at the entrance. The fixed time free pass for visiting just the Cathedral is available exclusively from the ticket offices on site.

The Cathedral is a place of worship and prayer. Visitors are asked to dress and behave appropriately, respecting both the place and people.

Explanations to groups of 6 or more visitors can be made only with radioguides, out of respect for the silence required by the sacred place.

During masses and special ceremonies visitors have access to a limited area, cameras can not be used, guides and escorts can not give explanations.

PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Admission is free for visitors with disabilities and for one carer, upon presentation of a medical certificate confirming the disability. To visit the Leaning Tower please contact our offices in advance.

It is possible to book in advance at the administration office to arrange guided tours by our staff for blind visitors. Access is generally possible for blind visitors with a guide dog, provided that the dog wears a muzzle and is kept on a leash. For security reasons, visits to the Leaning Tower with a guide dog may not allowed if there are large crowds.

Some members of Opera della Primaziale Pisana staff have basic knowledge of LIS, the Italian Sign Language. Guided tours can be arranged by booking in advance at the administration office.

The bathrooms are equipped for visitors with disabilities.

REDUCED-PRICE TICKETS

Reduced-price tickets are available for school groups only.

CHILDREN

Visits to the Tower For safety reasons, children under the age of 8 are not permitted in the Tower. Children aged 8 or more may visit the Tower with a full-price ticket. Under-18s may enter only in the company of an adult responsible for them. An identity document may be requested to certify the age of the child.

Visits to other buildings and museums Children aged 10 years or less have free entry, provided that they are accompanied by an adult. For children aged more than 10 years, an ordinary ticket is required.

Entry is generally allowed up to 30 minutes before closing time. The Cathedral is open to visitors from 10 a.m. (1 p.m. on holidays).

SPECIAL OPENING AND CLOSING

Opera del Duomo Museum from May 17, 2014 until further notice the museum will be closed for renovation.

Camposanto the entrance is free the days November 1st and 2nd.
Special opening by night from June 17th to August 31st until 10pm.

Tower Special opening by night from June 17th to August 31st until 10pm.
On June 16th closing at 5.30pm.

Prices for School Groups

Upon presentation of the list of students on the school’s headed notepaper, school groups have the right to a preferential group rate. Free admission for one teacher every 10 ticket-paying students. Special school-group tickets can be purchased solely on site.
