The Associazione delle Fabbricerie d'Italia (A.F.I.) (Association of Italian Vestry Boards) was founded in June 2005 to bring together the most important organisations in charge of the management of the local cathedrals and their adjoining monuments and museums.
Thus, Venice, Milan, Florence (Santa Maria del Fiore and Santa Croce), Siena, Parma, Todi, Volterra, Pavia, Orvieto, Prato, Pienza, Chiusi, Pisa, Pistoia, Arezzo and Monreale will be able to rely for the very first time on a form of coordination that will defend the interests of these historical sites and promote their growth and progress by exploring their shared general issues in the attempt to find shared solutions.
One of the goals of the Charter is to promote administrative and regulatory measures that may adapt the legal status of these unique sites to the new requirements of society as well as establishing relations of cooperation, study, research, exchanges of information and social and economic experiences, with bodies, institutions, associations, organisations and anyone working in the protection, promotion and enhancement of culture and art.
The positions appointed during the first assembly are listed below:

Francesco Venturi (President of the Opera del Duomo di Orvieto), Dott.ssa Anna Mitrano (President of the Opera Santa Maria del Fiore di Firenze), Prof.ssa Stefania Fustagni (President of the Opera di Santa Croce di Firenze), Rag. Francesco Martini (President of the Fabbriceria della Cattedrale di Pienza), Avv. Iacopo Gori (General Secretary of the Cathedral di Arezzo)
